NVIDIA ha reso disponibile per il download una versione beta dei propri driver Forceware, revision 91.37, dotata di supporto ufficiale alle configurazioni Quad SLI con due schede video GeForce 7950 GX2. NVIDIA ha introdotto sul mercato queste schede lo scorso mese di Giugno (la nostra recensione è disponibile a questo
indirizzo), senza tuttavia certificarne l'utilizzo in configurazione Quad SLI, quindi con due schede accoppiate sulla stessa scheda madre, in configurazioni DIY, Do It Yourself o autocostruite dagli utenti.
Il supporto Quad SLI è stato sino ad oggi limitato da NVIDIA alle sole configurazioni OEM sviluppate dai partner, tra i quali segnaliamo ad esempio Falcon Northwest, Dell e Alienware. I driver, è bene ricordarlo, sono beta e forniscono un supporto solo limitato a queste configurazioni; è possibile che in alcuni ambiti non vi sia pieno utilizzo della tecnologia Quad SLI con l'attuale sviluppo dei driver, oppure che la scalabilità delle prestazioni non sia elevata così come ci si potrebbe attendere. E' molto importante utilizzare filtraggi elevati per le textures, oltre che impostare risoluzioni video ben superiori a quella di 1600x1200 pixel, così da evidenziare al meglio quali siano i vantaggi prestazionali di una configurazione con due schede video GeForce 7950 GX2.

Step 1 – Verify your motherboard is approved for use with the GeForce 7950 GX2
The NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 architecture allows two graphics processing units (GPUs) to be employed on a single graphics card for an ultimate gaming experience. Before installing the GeForce 7950 GX2 graphics cards, NVIDIA recommends using a motherboard from NVIDIA's compatibility list to help element occurrence of non-graphics driver issues.
This website contains the list of all motherboards that have passed NVIDIA’s compatibility testing requirements on the GeForce 7950 GX2 graphics card and the latest motherboard SBIOS that was tested. If you do not see your motherboard listed here, please contact your manufacturer to ensure it is compatible with the GeForce 7950 GX2.
Once you have identified that your motherboard is compatible with the GeForce 7950 GX2, check to ensure that it is an NVIDIA SLI-Ready motherboard. NVIDIA SLI-Ready motherboards include: NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI, nForce 570 SLI, nForce4 SLI, and nForce4 SLI Intel Edition.
Step 2 – Verify that your power supply is compatible with Quad SLI technology
When building an SLI PC, NVIDIA recommends using an SLI-Ready certified power supply.

Step 3 – Purchase two NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 graphics cards
The NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 features a knockout pair of GeForce processors on one graphics board and supports NVIDIA SLI technology, allowing you to put two of these graphics cards in a single system with an NVIDIA nForce SLI motherboard.

Step 4 – Verify that the NVIDIA SLI Connector is in place connecting the two GeForce 7950 GX2 graphics cards
The NVIDIA SLI Connector ensures that the GeForce 7950 GX2 graphics cards are working together and you will experience the fastest game performance and high quality.
Step 5 – Download and Install the Beta driver
Please select your location and download the driver. Once you have downloaded the driver and installed it, Quad NVIDIA SLI technology will be enabled by default and there will be no need to enable it through the Control Panel.
