    Do you like PvP Sci-Fi MMOs? Well, in a short time you will be able to try the new Star Gem Inc. product (Gaijin Entertainment will be the publisher), Star Conflict. We sat down with the Product Director of the game, mister Nikolai Seleznev, to know more about it.
    MMORPGITALIA: Could you talk about the graphics engine that the game uses?

    Nikolai Seleznev: The game is made with our own engine, which supports all modern graphic technologies and features.

    MMORPGITALIA: How many and what kind of ships will have in the game?

    Nikolai Seleznev: Players will be offered a range of single pilot spaceships – from light and medium fighters and to stronger warships.

    MMORPGITALIA: Could you talk about the customization and the upgrade of the ships?

    Nikolai Seleznev: First of all, we’ve prepared a lot of different ships, so players can always find one they like. As soon as they choose a ship, choice players may start fine-tuning and customizing it the way they want to. There are a wide variety of modules that can turn an ordinary spaceship into a combat unit with its own special role on the battlefield – from a heavy defense smasher, to a supporter or a stealth recon, and so on. Though some of the ships specialize in particular combat tasks, there’s still a really huge range of options and experiments for players in Star Conflict.

    MMORPGITALIA: Could you describe the combat gameplay?

    Nikolai Seleznev: The battles are pure action and adrenalin. There’s little time for thoughtful planning. Usually there are 4-16 players in each team. You won’t have time to spare when you are logged in and looking at the countdown – just enough time to analyze the battle sector and the opportunities of your comrades, and bring up the best possible tactics for this particular fight. It’s also important to be sure of what role you are going to play, and based on this, to pick up appropriate partners. Build a gang of your own to work as a real team – that’s a promising advantage. And if an enemy destroys your ship, you may get a moment to choose different tactics for another ship. You can use up to 4 different battleships of your own configuration, that you choose from before entering a lobby. What happens next depends on how much you want to win, on how good you are at navigating the 3-dimentional space, and on your piloting talent.


    MMORPGITALIA: What kind of missions will have in Star Conflict?

    Nikolai Seleznev: First of all, there will be battles for dominance in a particular region. You will have to capture the enemy’s space beacons to cut them off from their reinforcements. Once the beacons are down, you’ll be able calmly explore the area. We are also going to offer team death matches, where players can gather up their friends and find out which gang is worthy of dominating a sector. Even more opportunities for clans/corporations: these players will be able to unlock special missions and additional clan spacecrafts.

    MMORPGITALIA: Open World or instances?

    Nikolai Seleznev: War for sectors will be instanced and will take place in various distant regions of the galaxy: you’ll be able to see exactly where by using your global map.

    MMORPGITALIA: How big will be the game's universe?

    Nikolai Seleznev: Our space is infinitely big, however, our players will not have to spend hours flying from one identically dull planet to another with the possibility of crashing into a passing comet being the only chance for a little excitement. Come on, warp technologies are so advanced that they can send ships across huge distances almost instantaneously! We use these to let our players see different places in the universe and have a chance to fight for them. And we plan to regularly add more and more new space sectors for players to discover and conquer.

    MMORPGITALIA: Could we have, for our guild, a star base?

    Nikolai Seleznev: In the beginning, we’ll let clans build their own extremely massive battleships (which is not going to simple to do, actually), kick all those disorganized mercenaries out of the way, and engage people with comparable firepower and ambitions. Starbases... oh yes, we keep coming back to this idea, so maybe someday…


    MMORPGITALIA: PvP in the game ?

    Nikolai Seleznev: Our game is all about PvP-battles at the moment.

    MMORPGITALIA: What will be the character's progression in the game?

    Nikolai Seleznev: The main playable character is the Pilot, a mercenary who fights for fame and wealth. Different “skill trees” how the pilot progresses. By constantly improving combat skills, enforcing yourself with implants, and also working for better relationships people who might hire him/her, your character is on the way to becoming the legend of the known universe.

    MMORPGITALIA: Plans for future updates?

    Nikolai Seleznev: As grand as they can be! The space setting is so bountiful, there’s so much freedom for our designers’ creative minds. Space fleet wars, battle station assaults, clan incorporations for taking over entire sectors… And who knows, maybe somewhere in a Galaxy far far away, mysterious aliens are waiting to be discovered by some roughneck pilots from mother-Earth?
