Hi guys, I'm just poking my head in between meetings because I have a very important piece of news to share.

You will NOT need to download a new client or reinstall. When the servers come back online all you will need to do is launch your existing client and it will patch up to the most current version and connect to the Global Service.

As noted by some above, there are some significant differences between the current NA and EU clients. This includes DE and FR language support and some other elements the prevent EU clients from logging into the NA service and NA clients from logging into the EU service. The Global service will use one client that includes EN, DE and FR languages (even for NA players who wish to play in DE or FR) and access to all existing NA and EU servers.

Since the announcement of the transition to the Turbine Global Service on June 1, 2011, we’ve heard a very clear message from the LOTRO Role Play community; The continued support for existing role play servers is important to you. We’ve heard you and are very happy to give the following answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding Role Play support after June 1.

Will Turbine support existing RP rules servers after the June 1 transition?
Turbine will continue to provide Role Play support on the existing RP designated servers at the same level currently provided by Codemasters.

What does this mean for the existing US Role Play community, specifically Landroval?
We will not be enforcing role play rules or adding official role play support to any of the existing US servers. However, the Landroval server will be designated [EN-RE] – Role Play Encouraged.

Role Play Supported and Role Play Encouraged servers after June 1, 2011

    • [EN-RE] Landroval (Role Play Encouraged)
    • [EN-RP] Laurelin (Role Play Supported)
    • [DE-RP] Belegaer (Role Play Supported)
    • [FR-RP] Estel (Role Play Supported)

    1. What’s happening?
Turbine is taking over full operations of The Lord of the Rings Online™ throughout Europe starting June 1, 2011. We’re merging the US and EU services into one mega-service we’re calling the LOTRO Global Service.
    2. Will there be any downtime during the transition?
Yes. We do expect there to be a limited service interruption during the changeover. Additional details, including specific information about downtime or service interruptions will be addressed as we get closer to the official take over date.
    3. I play on the EU service today. Do I need to do anything?
Yes. All current players of the LOTRO service operated by Codemasters will need to migrate their account to the new global service. This simple one-time process will allow current players to easily move game access and characters to the global service.
    4. Should I create a Turbine Account now?
No. Please wait for the official migration process to start. If you create an account on the Turbine service prior to the launch of the global service you will not be able to merge that account and your Codemasters account.
    5. I’m an EU player who already has both Turbine and Codemasters accounts. Is it possible to merge them after the migration?
No. Your accounts will remain separate.
    6. I play on Turbine’s service today and do not have any accounts on the Codemasters service. Do I need to do anything? Will anything be different for me?
Players on the current North American service do not need to take any action. In general, your play experience should remain the same.
    7. What will happen to my characters and items?
After you have completed the account migration process, all of your characters and items will be available to you. You need only log in to the game and they’ll be there waiting for you, right where you left them (even the server names are staying the same).
    8. What about my billing information? Will you migrate that too?
No. we will not automatically access or transfer your private billing information as part of this process. During the migration you will be asked to provide your billing information to us.
    9. Are there any differences in the VIP programs between Turbine and Codemasters?
The benefits remain the same. Players may also purchase discounted multi-month subscription packages and we are also offering special promotions for some plans during the migration period – please be sure to check the migration site for details.
    10. I have a lifetime account with Codemasters. Will Turbine honor it?
All existing Codemasters Lifetime accounts will be converted to Turbine Lifetime accounts.
    11. Will I lose my existing Points or will they be exchanged for Turbine points?
Any points on your account at the time of migration will transfer over to the Turbine service.
    12. I am a VIP, will my subscription transfer?
Any VIP time you have remaining after migration will be honored. After that period you will lose VIP status unless you update your billing information and select a subscription plan.
    13. Will I need to download the US client to play after June 1?
No. When the servers come back up your existing client will patch up to the global version of the game. Once the patching process is complete and you have followed the migration instructions you will be able to log into the game normally.
    14. Will the EU servers be merged into the US servers?
No. All existing servers will become part of the Turbine service. After patching your client all existing EU servers will appear in the launcher along with all of the current US servers. Players will then be able to create characters on any server they wish.
    15. Will Turbine continue to support language specific servers?
Yes. Servers currently designated as FR or DE speaking servers will remain as they are.
    16. Will Turbine support European payment options?
Yes. We are expanding our current billing system to accept many new payment methods.
    17. Will boxed products or Game Time Cards (GTC) published by Codemasters continue to work after the migration?
No. Due to technical incompatibilities between the systems Turbine will not be able to honor any Codemasters GTC or Codemasters retail product keys.
    18. What Languages will be available in the global game client?
The Lord of the Rings Online™ is available in English, French (Français), and German (Deutsch). The game will default to your currently selected language. If you wish to play in a different language, simply select your preferred language from the launcher. Note: If you are using a DE or FR version of Windows then your game may automatically select DE or FR to match your OS.
    19. Will EU players be able to use the my.lotro.com site and features such as the lottery after the change?
Yes! Once the transfer is complete and your characters are part of the Turbine service, the my.lotro.com site will start collecting data about your characters and adding them to the site. You will then be able to use all of the my.lotro.com features including blogs, character panels, and lotteries. Please note that your character history will start from the time you join the Turbine service.
    20. I'm active on the Codemasters forums, will my posts be copied over to the US forums?
No posts, accounts, or other information will be migrated from the LOTRO EU forums. We encourage players to move their guides, tips, tricks, etc over to the Official Lorebook, and the new global community after June 1, so all players may benefit.
    21. What will happen to any auctions/bids I have in progress at the time of the transition?
We encourage all European players to schedule their auctions to expire prior to June 1, 2011. Due to the nature of the transition we cannot guarantee these items will be available after the transfer.
    22. Will Turbine support existing RP rules servers after the June 1 transition?
Turbine will continue to provide Role Play support on the existing RP designated servers at the same level currently provided by Codemasters.
    23. What does this mean for the existing US Role Play community, specifically Landroval?
We will not be enforcing role play rules or adding official role play support to any of the existing US servers. However, the Landroval server will be designated [EN-RE] – Role Play Encouraged.
    24. Role Play Supported and Role Play Encouraged servers after June 1, 2011

    • [EN-RE] Landroval (Role Play Encouraged)
    • [EN-RP] Laurelin (Role Play Supported)
    • [DE-RP] Belegaer (Role Play Supported)
    • [FR-RP] Estel (Role Play Supported)

Not on June 1. Because of all of the moving parts of integrating servers, billing, transitioning accounts, and other heavy data loads that will be placed on our services we'll be trying to mitigate additional loads.

As for additional features being added to the API, you'll want to talk to Duwis once you transition to the Turbine service. He's the dev in charge of such things.

As for transition timing, oh how I wish it were all so easy as everyone seems to think. If we could ignore differences in systems, processes, new systems and processes created to facilitate the transition, and all of the legal elements /restrictions surrounding this process and could focus solely on moving many terabytes of data then it would probably be far easier, though still far from 'simple'. Ignoring everything else and focusing just on the legal bits, there are restrictions to what we can move and when.

From the estimates I've seen here, the doomsayers claiming weeks or months are as far off as the overly optimistic people claiming a handful of hours. We'll have a full breakdown of the process and timing as soon as the engineering folks finish with their 'what if' scenarios and give us their estimates. The worst thing we could do is say "24 hours" and have that end up being 3 days or claim 3 days and have it be a week.

If you haven't done so already, I'd strongly encourage you all to follow the Official LOTRO social media outlets. We'll be keeping everyone updated throughout the transition. We encourage this because in most cases you probably won't have an account to access the official forums or see the launcher immediately, but you'll always be able to see Twitter and Facebook.

Yes, you will launch the game and simply follow the on screen instructions. It will walk you through the transition process and patch your client to the most recent version (Update 3). I should have more details next week. I have a meeting to walk through the entire process myself so I can pass that info along as soon as I have it.

conferma tenetevi stretto il vostro client non disinstallatelo altrimenti non poterete trasferire i pg ^^

Citazione Originalmente inviato da Sapience (Turbine) Visualizza messaggio
You'll need the EU client to transition your EU account. The US client will not work for this. So don't uninstall until after the transition is finished. Once everything is done, it won't matter which client you use as they'll be identical.
Citazione Originalmente inviato da Sapience (Turbine) Visualizza messaggio
As far as I am aware they'll need to install the EU client and go through the process from start to finish. Because the NA servers aren't moving and there is no need to migrate their account data, its not part of the NA client.

We have provisions in place to allow for a number of months after the June 1 migration takes place for those who aren't able to migrate immediately. I'd still encourage everyone to migrate as soon as possible, and to let friends and kinmates who may have stepped away from the game know what's happening and encourage them to get their accounts transitioned as soon as possible.

I'm sure the CM staff will continue to keep you up to date on how things will work on their end via and what you'll need to do prior to the transition via email, launcher, and forums as they are currently.

    Hey guys,

As requested, we would like to provide some information regarding Turbine Paid Services, and their availability after the 1 June LOTRO Europe Migration. A description of each service is included below. Please note that the listed prices include any applicable taxes, such as VAT.

As Sapience has previously noted, “merging two large server farms and their respective support systems is no small task”. To avoid “adding additional complications while we verify the stability and performance of the newly merged service”, there will be limitations to some Paid Services after the 1 June Migration. All limitations are detailed below within each Paid Service description.

    CHARACTER RENAME - Available Immediately!
    995 Turbine Points
Character Renames can be purchased with Turbine Points, at your convenience, from the LOTRO Store.

In order to rename a Monster Character, please purchase a rename from the LOTRO Store with any character on the same subscription. You can then use your rename credit while logged into the Monster Character of your choice.

    KINSHIP RENAME - Available Immediately!
    $12.95, €11.49, £9.95
The Kinship Rename service will continue to be available for all current North American servers. Additionally, once the current European servers have been fully transitioned to Turbine, Kinship Renames will be available immediately on ALL servers!

    CHARACTER UNDELETE – Coming Soon™!
    $19.95, €17.49, £14.95
The Character Undelete service will continue to be available for all current North American servers.
The Character Undelete service will be available on the current European servers eventually. We will post announcements in the Paid Services Status Sticky when they are available.

WORLD CHARACTER TRANSFER – Coming Soon™ and In the near future!
    $19.95 €17.49 £14.95
The World Character Transfer service will continue to be available between all current North American servers, within the current restrictions. Transfers between current European servers, and between current North American and current European servers will not be available immediately.

At this time, server transfers are not available onto Brandywine, Crickhollow, Dwarrowdelf, Elendilmir, Imladris, Landroval, Riddermark*. All other servers are available for incoming transfers. You can transfer off any of the servers.

Currently, it is a known issue that characters cannot be transferred back to a server they were previously on, as doing so will put the character into an unplayable state. We are working to resolve this issue, and will update this post with any news.

The World Character Transfer service will be available between the current European servers eventually.
The World Character Transfer service will be available for transfers between current North American and current European servers at a later date, to be determined after we have enabled other Transfers and Undeletes. *When this wider set of Transfers is enabled, we will also be reviewing the ability to transfer to servers that are currently restricted. We will post announcements about any changes in the available services in the Paid Services Status Sticky when they are available.

We are currently reviewing suggestions that we have received regarding discounts for World Character Transfers for current European players and transfers onto official Roleplay-Supported servers. We will provide information about any discounts when we enable the last more inclusive set of Transfers.

At this time, we do not have any plans to offer bulk or entire subscription character transfers for a set price. However, we do appreciate the interest and feedback in a bulk move option, and are happy to forward it to the appropriate department. If you want to move all of your characters to a different server, you may do so by submitting a separate request for each character.

    OTHER SERVICES
We have received requests for Account or Subscription Character Transfers. We have also received requests for Subscription transfers between/onto a different Account. At this time we do not have any plans to add either type of service to the system. However, we do appreciate your feedback, and are happy to forward it to the appropriate department.

    SUBMIT A REQUEST
You may submit a new Paid Service request by going to http://www.turbine.com/support. Click the “Support Center” tab, then “Submit a Ticket” and complete the form.

You may check the status of our Paid Services in our Paid Service Status Sticky.

Please note that we cannot assist with any Paid Services on the current European servers until those servers are live again after 1 June. Any requests for Paid Services on these servers prior to that time will be declined.

    Victorie

Hey guys, sorry it's been so long between updates, I took yesterday off to get a spiffy haircut and get the paperwork on my passport sorted out. Hey, Honvik says he's buying beer, I intend to collect!

The Treasure event is not time based. We've built it to be something we can enable or disable at any time we choose instead of tying it to a specific date or season. We could run it in January or June with ease. So no worries about that.

We have a system in place that will note any time remaining on your account and credit that time to your Turbine account. So you should have exactly what you had prior to the migration.

Right Nishar, we won't be allowing any transfers initially, but the intention is to eventually allow players to transfer between whichever servers they wish (assuming it isn't one of the currently excluded servers) regardless of where the account or which server was the point of origin. Don't ask me when all of this going to happen, it will be sometime after the tech guys decide that everything is working as expected and any unexpected issues have been addressed.

We've just updated the official FAQ with the new information I've passed along here regarding Role Playing and Client downloads.

I should have more details next week. I have a meeting to walk through the entire process myself so I can pass that info along as soon as I have it.

conferma tenetevi stretto il vostro client non disinstallatelo altrimenti non poterete trasferire i pg ^^

You'll need the EU client to transition your EU account. The US client will not work for this. So don't uninstall until after the transition is finished. Once everything is done, it won't matter which client you use as they'll be identical.

    Prime info

Just dropping in after the meeting to give you some info. This is really broad, but you'll get the general idea.

For starters, the migration process is incredibly simple and straight forward. If you have the EU client installed, it will direct you to the migration site and you can walk through the process. If you don't have an EU client installed, it's still very simple. You'll be given a URL and everything you need will be presented to you then.

    Important points:

    • Once you create your new Turbine account, it will be immediately available. Your characters and servers may take a little more time to associate with your new account ( I don't have an exact estimate but will keep you posted), but you will be able to patch your client, log into the official forums, and perform other account based functions (like setting up payment options) almost immediately.
    • You should be able to view your time remaining (if you are on a sub) and points during the process.
    • Your order and store history will not carry over. If you want to keep track of your in game store purchases, I'd suggest taking a screen shot of it before the Codemasters service closes.
    • Everything will be exactly as you left it when you log back in to your characters. Kinships, housing, items, etc will be right where you left them.
    • Due to a quirk with how tokens were used on the Turbine and Codemasters services some special items (pre-order items) will not be available to newly created characters. They'll still exist on your current characters, but not on new ones. This is temporary. Myself and the entire Turbine Community Team has impressed upon everyone here that this is very important and needs to be resolved as soon as possible after the migration is complete and the servers are confirmed to be stable.
    • My.lotro.com data and the lottery will be unavailable for a couple of weeks while we confirm server stability. After that we'll add all the former EU servers to the service and you should have full access to everything.

That's the quick view of where we are right now.

Another update I forgot to add earlier. If you 'd like to see Turbine's official rules for Roleplay servers, the English version is now live (Turbine Official Roleplaying Rules and Policy). We'll have French and German versions available before June 1.
