Ever since the rumours about how August 1st could see the end of SGW and CME a lot of "has CME got the investment" or "sgw is dead" threads have appeared. But it looks like the tunnel that lead from the start of the rumours wasn't a dark and gloomy dead end, the tunnel is continuing on and a small light has appeared which is showing SGW may still see the light of day. I quote from the same site that said SGW may lose the stargate license and signaled the dead of CME.
"The status update I have from information as recent as August 7th is that CME is still open and not only that, but is looking like it will have a future. Investor support has been very positive. Capital has been raised and is in the escrow account to be managed by investors. There are also some verbal commitments that are expected to come through and materialize. It seems that investors are close to raising the target $8 million (a lot was raised in 4 weeks, but was not all $8m) and that MGM will be supportive of the investor's effort to see the Stargate project through to completion and so is likely to extend licensing of Stargate franchise. A letter of commitment is being delivered to MGM in the next few days.
Gary Whiting met a payroll this week for existing employees. Gary has also agree to many stipulations that increase control of the investors over the company. Lawsuits and other liens Gary faces, I am told, are related to other corporate entities and studios that, although they involve Gary, are separate from Stargate/CME. For example, Handcrank Studios and the online racing game (I'm sure based on emails I've received that there is some suspicion as to whether CME money ever was used in other side projects given Gary's financial management track record and lack of audited financials, but that will be looked into later so let's not beat a dead horse). However, CME does have back tax and other obligations it needs to meet, but those are being addressed now.
This next week will be very telling of CME's future and the fate of Stargate Worlds."
In short the article says CME did receive money but not the full $8 million they had targeted. Also GW has given some more control to investors over CME (hopefully this will allow them to look into CME's finical dealing over the last 4 yrs). In short SGW appears to be alive for now.
